Top 10 at the Weekend Box Office

  • Avatar, with its higher ticket price for 3-D showings, earned $68.3 million this weekend -- the best gross ever for a film in its third weekend. The film has shot past $1 billion worldwide, only the fifth movie ever to hit that mark.
  • Avatar director James Cameron is the only director with two $1 billion hits (along with Titanic).
